ON1

Yayness, this is the first event the 6th MSE committee is organising! So eggggciting :D

It’s time for a new MSE shirt to distinguish ourselves as the awesomest batch of 2011/2012!
As per last year, we are inviting YOU to submit shirt designs. The winning designer will get the MSE shirt for free! :D

No restrictions, purely imagination!
There will be no constraints on the medium of the design (i.e. can be sketched/art vector etc.) However, to make the shirt more unique to the 2011/2012 batch, there are some basic requirements:
  •  Design must not be white base (i.e. the shirt will not be white)
  •   Maximum of 8 unique colours to facilitate printing
  •  Preferably front and back designs

Submitted designs will be vetted by the professors and committee and subjected to voting on fb. The one with the most likes will be the winning design! :D
Please send in your designs to mailto:msecommittee@gmail.com by 7 OCTOBER 2011, 2359h NAOOOOO or risk having no shirt to wear/:

why you should go agm and sharing session 2

First and foremost,

MSE AGM + SHARING SESSION
Date: 25th August 2011
Time: 5pm (tentative)
Venue: TBC

JUST JOT THE DATE DOWN NOW!!

Now, the important question. WHY SHOULD YOU RUN IN THE AGM?

1. RECOGNITION

As stated in my previous post, I'M SURE YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO MUDDLE THROUGH YOUR UNI LIFE. Make a change! Be somebody!

Imagine all those people you'll meet being in the MSESIG Exco. People who might be of help to you in the future, and people who might path your way to your academic/career success!

At our age, networking is REALLY important.

2. HALL STAY

As you all know, the hall stay system has changed. Gone are the days of points and now, they want to see COMMITMENT.

Think of it this way. MSESIG is a small group, which also mean that the chances of you getting your vote slip into the ballot system is higher. If you join big-group CCAs, you really gotta shine just so that the president will acknowledge you.

MSESIG is different. Here, we see each and everyone of you, clearly. There are just about 60-70 of us in each cohort, so it's not really hard for us to spot the people who are really committed to serving the SIG.

3. POTENTIAL

Who knows? Maybe you're cut out to be a member of the SIG, and you'll get to play to your fullest potential.

To run for AGM, simply email us the following details at mse.committee@gmail.com

1. Name
2. Matric Number
3. Email add
4. Contact number
5. Person who seconds you

And why should you go for the sharing session? Just take a look at last year's photos.

sharing session for SEP!

Year 1s who just joined the MSE family, do you have BURNING QUESTIONS you want to ask our professors? Like, job prospects etc? I know you guys are pretty lost now, so this is the best time for you to fire away!

Year 2s, you gotta start thinking whether it'll be SEP or IA for you. Seniors will be invited to talk about their experiences and from there, you can take in the opinions and make your own decision! More information, wiser choice.

Year 3s, facing IA or SEP problems already? Year 4s, does FYP sound like a nightmare to you? Get help from your seniors and the professors! They're all there to help us, because we are one big MSE family (:

mse agm campaign

It's almost the start of another wonderful academic year at NUS, and now, do take a moment to look back and reflect upon what you've done in your college life so far. (For fresh blood, think about the 7 months since A levels/2 years of NS).

Have you been part of something and served selflessly? Have you experienced the kind of camaraderie that can only surface with people whom you've worked closely with for the past 1 year? Have you worked towards a goal, that is not just for your own gain? Have you been part of something great?

If yes, you would know that sense of achievement and fulfilment I'm talking about. For the No-group, haven't you wondered what is it that drives people to take up leadership?

Photobucket

And why? Take a look below. (No harm, really!)

We experienced what it was like to do business, selling the MSE shirts to raise club funds. We liased with printing companies, dealt with screw-ups, and emerged more tactful than before.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

We had our annual big event, The 1.5k Event, where the whole MSE family (staff, alumni, undergraduates) got together for a night of bonding and fun.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

We welcomed freshmen and overseas visitors alike. We let them know what it's like being in MSE, how we are proud to be in MSE and why MSE will always be a part of us wherever we go.

For Sem 2, we started out with a goal. We wanted the best for our fellow undergraduates, and we worked to present you, the first ever, MSE Welfare Pack:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Even though they say 'MSE is so small,' but I know we're all big hearts, able to understand and acknowledge the needs and problems of students nowadays. We rise up to challenges, we conquer problems and we are all born leaders.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

So come on, take up the challenge. Break the monotony of your mundane school life (lecture-tutorial-lab-lecture-tutorial-lab) and be different. Stop muddling through life and unleash your full potential. What sets you apart, is your attitude towards trials, not just academic progress.

I know this sounds really serious and all, but this, is what I leave you. Do you want to be a nobody; a face in the crowd, or someone the crowd faces? (Yes, borrowed from SCGS).

The choice is yours.

The only real training for leadership is leadership.

p.s. To be continued, so stay tuned for the next entry!
