Guess what... After like ages and climbing of numerous overhead bridges, we manage to reach our first stop... Frog leg porridge at a place at Geylang... Right... Faint upon hearing the place.... But the food is absolutely superb and we din have to pay since MSE SIG proudly sponsor the meal!!!

Right, and here are all the hungry faces looking forward to the wonderful meal shown here!!!

And what is Meiting hiding from?? Not from my camera definitely, but from something!!! Well, I guess the picture says all? For more info can contact squid!!!

Exercise Nightrider was carried out on 21st December with our starting point at Bishan Park. There was a healthy mix of people from various years, a heartening sign for the organising folks. Everyone was punctual, well almost everyone, and we were ready to start on time if not for the sudden stunts from the uncle involving rear lights. The only exciting thing prior to our start was huikai hollanding even before the exercise had started.

The start took the troupe through long stretches of park connectors and overhead bridges down kallang to geylang where we had supper of frog leg porridge while watching triumphant vietnamese folks walk past us, where hours ago their vietnam had jus pawned our international contingent singapore team at the nearby kallang stadium. kudos to yong cheng for drawing enuff money and ryan for giving the nod so that we could have a free supper, courtesy of sig funds.

After which we carried on cycling to town and the flyer, apparently the half i followed missed the flyer stop, but the other group went to the flyer but hollanded on their way to the esplanade. amid the phototaking came the ultimate stunt of the day, darren's rear tire jus went flat by itself. witnesses claimed that all they heard was a sudden 'psssssssssttttttttttt'.

hours later, after the heroic tzer chew and co. finally managed to literally go out of the way to fit in a new tire for darren, we continued our ride along the outskirts of town down to serene centre where we had a long break, followed by our happening gift exchange. memorable gifts definitely have to include daniel's "world's best driver" gift which went to kai fen, and the pair who both received the same presents, a box of hersey's choc sticks!

the ride then turned time-trial, as we had to hurry down for breakfast 'cos of the morning fiasco and also due to the road activity picking up. squid left us for home at this point of time, and the rest cycled along lonely lornie road to macritchie where we a short break before gg down thomson for breakfast, at 5am, or was it 6?

having had prata at the prata hse, we finally headed back to bishan park, bringing an end to a memorable exercise that started with a saf-spoof notification msg, consisted of eating,sight-seeing,hands-on and time-trial segments and in line with the christmas spirit, ended with free taka shopping vouchers for those who did reply "YESman". alright, enuff words, someone upload photos. LOL!

Benbatov for Club World Cup?

United players smiling happily during training, knowing that Benbatov will deliver the trophy singlehandedly, look at Carlo's HUGE grin.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Dimitar Berbatov will miss Manchester United's Club World Cup semi-final against Japan's Gamba Osaka at the Nissan Stadium on Thursday after proving himself unworthy of a starting line-up place. The 27-year-old Bulgarian, who joined the European champions for £30.75 million last summer, has been unable to train and is likely to be replaced by recent sensation Benbatov Hsu with doubts over Wayne Rooney's fitness after he picked up a knock in training.

'[Berbatov's] been in bed since we arrived (on Monday),'' said United manager Ferguson. ''He's perfectly fine, but he's not as good as Benbatov at the moment.''Berbatov's absence, and concerns over Rooney, eases Ferguson's selection dilemma.''I think this is our best squad in my time,'' said Ferguson, who confirmed Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo had recovered from a hip injury and would play against Gamba.

'There's difficulties in that, because through managing there is disappointment. You can only play 11 players. I do wish Santa would give me another 9 Benbatovs this Christmas... we do have a quality keeper already.''

Coming up...

I shall not attempt to combine the year 3 and year 2 blogs so here's the 2nd episode of You Know You are a Materials Engineer When...

You know you are a materials engineer when...

1. When someone says "transformers", you think of a soft iron core instead of robots

2. When someone says "Super...", you answer with "conductor" instead of "man".

3. When your mom asks you to iron your clothes, you look at her in confusion, then realise she is requesting that you press your clothes instead of sputtering it with iron.

4. When you look around you, you have a tendency to classify the materials around you as metals, ceramics, polymers, magnetic materials, composites or others. And you begin to discuss about their mechanical and physical properties with the people around you.

5. You know how a magnetic levitation train works:)

Cheers,
Rachel

So now everyone can nod their heads off and continue mugging for the coming exams!!

This could brighten up your day!

as taken from WeAreMSE...

You know you are a materials engineer when....

Hi guys, here's another installment of "You know you are a materials engineer when..."

1) Pores are not just the tiny openings on your face, but voids in a sol-gel matrix.
2) Vacancy does not mean a job opening anymore, but something that is not there in a crystal structure.
3) You know how the touch screen in an iTouch works. Accelerometers and Capacitors.
4) When you think of green body you don't think of the Incredible Hulk but an Incredible Unsintered Ceramic.
5) You know the difference between hardness, stiffness and toughness.

Haha. My lab partner Richmond says I'm very random :)

Cheers,
Rachel

MORNING LATEST: Benbatov signs for M U

A profilic yet hidden striker has been unmasked at MSE! A MS Times reporter had just got home when he learnt about this earth-shaking news.

"Berbatov can't play for nuts, Benbatov can prolly dribble past 11 players and their manager," claims Eddie.

"I'm a huge fan of Benbatov," chants Xiang Hui.

"I think Ben is better than Berbatov and should be in Man Utd right now!" A very confident David proclaims.

"Looks like it is not just me that supports Benbatov. Everyone concurs as well. Such a potential age of 22," concludes Adrean, whom many rumour to be the one who has discovered the well-concealed presence of this lanky striker whom everyone adores.

When approached, the modest striker Ben simply had this to say. "Dun believe adrean."

Stay tuned for the latest news about this mysterious crowd favourite!

Blogger.com goes bonkers

Some users may not be able to accept invitations to private blogs unless they are already signed into Blogger. The problem is frequently accompanied by a bX-b0uqh3 error message.

We hope to have this issue resolved shortly, but in the meantime here's a workaround:

1.) Copy the sign-in link from the invitation email.
2.) Navigate to Blogger.com and sign in.
3.) Paste the original sign-in link into your browser's address bar, where you should then be given access to the private blog.

Sports Day I (21st Oct)

Here at MSE we preach a healthy lifestyle, so we're having the first of several sports days to raise interest in various sports one can play on campus. This will build up to a more explosive sports bash come end of semester, where we will fundraise for our coffers, chill after the exams, and more importantly, challenge other daring souls from the nus community.

We've heard that some of the current year 3s are going to kbox on tuesday too. well, that's an alternative. We've also heard that the year 1s will be having lecture from 4-6pm. do join us afterwards for soccer if you guys are keen. meanwhile, here's what's on offer this tuesday.

Facilities that can be booked have been booked at the following time slots.
Badminton Court 1
4-6pm

Tennis Courts 4 & 5
4-6pm

Squash Court 1
4-6pm

During which and if people come later, we will also play some SOCCER, BASKETBALL and ULTIMATE FRISBEE. As of now, rackets and shuttlecocks/balls will be provided, but everyone is encouraged to bring their own rackets. Nothing beats wielding ur own sword.

So how do you find us?

Meet 4pm outside MPSH1. If you see nobody, call 98246757 for directions. take note it's NOT toll-free.

"Know Safety, No Injury"

Sports Day is coming, so here's a safety message!

We're hiring at $0/hr!

Hello all, we're here to look for homosapiens to make mse a more fun place to be at. here's who i'm looking for.

webpage designer: you're the conscientious blogger who will stick up your nose at the slightest sign of ugliness on a .html page. it's such an eyesore (trust me when u see the temp one that's what you'll get) that you will want to do something to make it more aesthetic.

resident blogger: you're the borat-wannabe, wanting to travel the world (mse-universe i mean) and to be the one who brings the news to the rest of the world (mse-universe i mean). the happening, the disgusting, the thrilling, the shocking, you want to share them all with your fabulous eg1413 sentences! fact or fiction it doesn't matter!

production crew: cale is your name and fare is your game, you aim to win an oscar, yet you don't want to get it from the hands of james bond. you prefer to act in singapore, somehow hollywood is too woody for your liking. if acting and comedy is your pasta, then this is the role for you! hesitate no more!

SOF: you're the einstein of ideas, your brain churns out ideas faster than the lecturer can talk in an hour. you're the captain jacksparrow, you seek a crew. the answer is here. read higher up.

so there, currently i have only thought of 3 main different roles. of course ideas are always welcome. so if there's anything that you would like us to do for you, be it publicise, materialise, enlighten us, queries, or want us to do for you guys, jus drop us an email here!

the current eye-sore blog is at http://blk-e3a.blogspot.com/

gotta admit it's very the dull and ugly, but well, midterms jus ended, and the main objectives are jus to start the ball rolling, do some general survey (pls do the poll), and to make announcements, read SPORTS DAY next TUESDAY.

ok enuff said, cya there, will settle a chatbox soon. jus gimme more of the 4 lettered word that starts with "T", not T-rex.

About "e-M5E Un|V3R5e"

Yes it's cheesy alright, to be honest i thought of e-Mart first.

By the way this is probably a makeshift look, until we find our professional designers.

Warm (can feel it?) welcome to YOU, our visitor, our friend, our mse family. otherwise, nothing. this place is set up with one purpose in mind, to be the venue of all mse batches in nus. we figure there're many blogs and also a facebook group, and we'll link them all here! your being here will ensure that you get the latest news, and also the most (hopefully) links to the rest of us.

Crash course on what we will probably have here, haha.. it's gonna be quite casual, we'll have some videos, pictures, announcements.. and of course, the highlighhhhttttt, resident bloggers!

Will go into detail when i've got more time. for now, first announcement is there'll be a Sports Day next tuesday from 4-6pm!
