Coming up...

I shall not attempt to combine the year 3 and year 2 blogs so here's the 2nd episode of You Know You are a Materials Engineer When...

You know you are a materials engineer when...

1. When someone says "transformers", you think of a soft iron core instead of robots

2. When someone says "Super...", you answer with "conductor" instead of "man".

3. When your mom asks you to iron your clothes, you look at her in confusion, then realise she is requesting that you press your clothes instead of sputtering it with iron.

4. When you look around you, you have a tendency to classify the materials around you as metals, ceramics, polymers, magnetic materials, composites or others. And you begin to discuss about their mechanical and physical properties with the people around you.

5. You know how a magnetic levitation train works:)

Cheers,
Rachel

So now everyone can nod their heads off and continue mugging for the coming exams!!

You know you are a materials engineer when....

Hi guys, here's another installment of "You know you are a materials engineer when..."

1) Pores are not just the tiny openings on your face, but voids in a sol-gel matrix.
2) Vacancy does not mean a job opening anymore, but something that is not there in a crystal structure.
3) You know how the touch screen in an iTouch works. Accelerometers and Capacitors.
4) When you think of green body you don't think of the Incredible Hulk but an Incredible Unsintered Ceramic.
5) You know the difference between hardness, stiffness and toughness.

Haha. My lab partner Richmond says I'm very random :)

Cheers,
Rachel
